Noel Boyle


Noel became the Group CEO in 2018. After formulating our overall strategic plan, Noel is focused on transitioning CareChoice to become the most trusted and respected Nursing Home brand in Ireland, a leading organization that develops much needed new capacity, and the company that leads the dialogue to help reshape the market. We are working hard to create a strong culture and momentum with staff using a combined “Corporate & Local” approach, against which other operators are benchmarked. To help achieve this, we are continually investing in quality of care initiatives, that adds value and enhances the lives of our residents.

Noel is an experienced CEO with 20 years senior leadership experience across a spectrum of Irish sectors including oil distribution, logistics & supply chain, security solutions, corporate finance, print and publishing. Noel holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, Post Graduate in Professional Marketing, and MBA, all from University College Dublin.

Karla Walsh

Director of Care, Quality and Standards

Recently appointed as Director of Care, Quality and Standards, Karla brings a wealth of experience in the nursing home sector to her role, having held the post of Director of Nursing for almost 10 years. Karla is passionate about delivering a competent, safe and professional service to the older adult in residential care and this is evident from the extent of her continued professional development activities in areas of study that are pertinent to the care of residents.

Karla is a qualified General and Paediatric nurse and holds a Certificate in Health Services Management from the University of Limerick.

Theresa Connolly

Head of Human Resources

Theresa heads up the Human Resources Department within the CareChoice Group, of which she joined in 2016. She has a wealth of experience both as HR consultant, Trainer and Manager, in both the public and private sector including many years of experience in the healthcare space.

Theresa is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, the highest level of professional membership within the HR industry and is currently studying for a PHD.

Laura Coyne

Chief Financial Officer

Appointed in June 2017, Laura joins the CareChoice team at a period of significant change and expansion.   Laura is a PWC trained chartered accountant with 25 years of financial and general  management experience in various industries.    With the rest of the senior management team, Laura is focused on ensuring that the residents’ experience is enhanced as part of the Group’s transformation over the coming years to market leader in the Irish nursing home industry.

Joanne Williams

Director of Nursing at CareChoice Nursing Home Montenotte, Cork.

Qualifications: Diploma in Nursing Management, Higher Diploma in Healthcare Management, Registered General Nurse (RGN), Registered Sick Chidren’s Nurse (RSCN), State Certified Midwife (SCM) and Registered Public Health Nurse (RPHN)

Professional focus: Joanne has over 25 years nursing experience including working for the Southern Health Board/HSE as Assistant Director of Public Health Nursing. Joanne is committed to encouraging her staff to maximise their potential, both for their personal benefit and that of their patients. Joanne’s philosophy is to support and empower her team to deliver high quality professional and personal care in a homely and friendly manner, so that each resident and family member is treated with dignity, respect and fairness.

Gráinne Henson

Director of Nursing at CareChoice Nursing Home, Ballynoe, Cork.

Qualifications: Registered Nurse (R.N.), Master of Health Medicine (the equivalent of an MBA in Health)

Professional focus: Gráinne and her team regularly care for residents with dementia. Over the years this has led to Gráinne developing a particular interest in the area of dementia care, specifically developments in diagnosis and care models.

Catherine Buttimer

Director of Nursing at CareChoice Nursing Home, Macroom, Cork.

Qualifications: RGN, BSc (Hons) Diploma in Health Services Management, Diploma in Public Administration. Masters candidate in Health Services Management

Professional Focus: Catherine has over 25 years experience both nationally and internationally in the Acute and Hospital Management sector. In addition to this Catherine holds a lean Six Sigma Black Belt and has led complex improvement projects.

Catherine’s goal is on leading the team at CareChoice Macroom in providing the highest quality of care to each individual resident, ensuring a person-centred approach. A central part of this is growing the Dementia friendly principles into a reality at CareChoice Macroom.

Maureen O’Donovan

Professional focus: Maureen has developed a specific interest in the diagnosis and management of residents with Dementia in a nursing home setting.  A Multidisciplinary Team Approach is taken in the care of the older person.   Maureen is passionate about her staff in the nursing home continuously updating their knowledge and understanding of the ageing process and associated conditions of old age.

Frances Murphy

Director of Nursing, CareChoice Nursing Home, Malahide Road, Dublin.

Frances Murphy is a Registered General Nurse and an Alumni of St. James’s Hospital and Trinity College. Frances’s experience consists of general and emergency nursing, care of older people, rehabilitation and palliative care. She is a former Director of Client Services and Clinical Lead in both care of older person’s, rheumatology and supporting people with intellectual disabilities. Frances has worked extensively with families and service users to design and develop individual programs of care with a specialism in gerontology – care of older persons. She has been a senior nursing manager for an extensive number of years. She has previously been a Person in Charge and the Provider Nominee.

Gillian McDonald

Director of Nursing at CareChoice Nursing Home, Trim, Co. Meath.

Professional focus: Gillian has nearly seven years’ experience as Nursing Director in Knightsbridge. Having qualified as a nurse more than fourteen years ago, with 13 of those years with care of the older person Gillian holds a Diploma in General Nursing, Higher Diploma in Older Persons Care and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Nursing from University College Dublin. Gillian also holds a certificate in training from NUI Maynooth.

Emmet Gleeson

Director of Nursing at CareChoice Nursing Home Finglas, Dublin.

Qualifications:  RPN, RSCN, H. Dip, MSc Mental Health

Emmet Qualified as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with an honours degree in 2009 from the University of Dublin – Trinity College.

Emmet has experience working in Mental Health Nursing, General Children’s Nursing and Care of the Older Person; National Children’s Hospital, Cherry Orchard Hospital Dublin, Tallaght University Hospital, St. Loman’s Mental Health Services and St Patrick’s University Hospital Dublin and Dalkey Lodge Nursing Home caring for young people, adults and older persons with a range of general health and social care needs. Emmet held a position as Project Consultant in the development of a State of the Art Acute Inpatient Unit in Dublin prior to joining CareChoice in 2016 as an Assistant Director of Nursing at our Finglas home. Emmet has also completed a postgraduate higher diploma in Children’s nursing leading to registration as a Registered Sick Childrens Nurse, as well as a Master of Science in Mental Health in Trinity College Dublin. Emmet is currently undertaking a Master of Science in Healthcare Management at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
