Our Team

At CareChoice we take pride in a team of professionals that are committed to the highest standards of care, ethics and expertise. Having originated as a family business, we are also passionate about delivering the quality of care we would want for our loved ones.

Our Homes are supported by our Head Office team which includes a Senior Management Team consisting of a CEO, Director of Finance, Director of HR, Director of Quality and Innovation and a Director of Property Development.

Zuzana Gaborova

Qualification: RGN, General Nursing – Slovakia, Specialization in  Primary Contact Care, Dementia Champion, Trained Trainer, The Management of Actual Potential Aggression- MAPA (Instructor), QQI L6 Supervisory Management Programme.

Focus: 26 years of nursing experience , 13 of those with the CareChoice. Worked with the Elderly throughout my career and became very passionate about Dementia and Person-Centred Care. I believe in  the CareChoice Mission as it enhances the idea of Person Centred Care.

My ethos: People don’t change because of condition or disease, they are still  the same person- don’t forget that when we care for them.

Professional Focus: Joan is from the locality and has over 20 years experience in care of the Elderly. Joan’s goal is to provide the highest quality of care to each individual resident in a homely and friendly environment. Joan’s ethos is to ensure that all residents are Cared for as we would care for members of our own families.

Maureen O’Donovan

Professional focus: Maureen has developed a specific interest in the diagnosis and management of residents with Dementia in a nursing home setting.  A Multidisciplinary Team Approach is taken in the care of the older person.   Maureen is passionate about her staff in the nursing home continuously updating their knowledge and understanding of the ageing process and associated conditions of old age.

Emmet Gleeson

Director of Nursing, CareChoice Nursing Home, Malahide Road, Dublin.

Qualifications:  RPN, RSCN, H. Dip, MSc Mental Health

Professional Focus: Emmet Qualified as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with an honours degree in 2009 from the University of Dublin – Trinity College.

Emmet has experience working in Mental Health Nursing, General Children’s Nursing and Care of the Older Person; National Children’s Hospital, Cherry Orchard Hospital Dublin, Tallaght University Hospital, St. Loman’s Mental Health Services and St Patrick’s University Hospital Dublin and Dalkey Lodge Nursing Home caring for young people, adults and older persons with a range of general health and social care needs. Emmet held a position as Project Consultant in the development of a State of the Art Acute Inpatient Unit in Dublin prior to joining CareChoice in 2016 as an Assistant Director of Nursing at our Finglas home. Emmet has also completed a postgraduate higher diploma in Children’s nursing leading to registration as a Registered Sick Childrens Nurse, as well as a Master of Science in Mental Health in Trinity College Dublin. Emmet is currently undertaking a Master of Science in Healthcare Management at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Gail Tully

Director of Nursing at CareChoice Nursing Home, Trim, Co. Meath.

Qualifications: National Diploma in General Nursing, DKIT, BSc Nursing, RCSI, MSc Nursing, RCSI, Grad Dip in Emergency Nursing, UCD & Leading and Managing People, Level 6.

Professional Focus: Gail began her nursing career in 2000.  She was previously self-employed and has experience in management and business operations. Gail spent several years in Our Lady’s Hospital Navan before moving to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown where Gail held the position of Discharge Co-Ordinator and most recently Assistant Director of Nursing for Care of the Older Persons.  We are delighted to have Gail as part of the CareChoice team.

Angela Lyons

Professional Focus: Angela has 30 years’ experience within the HSE and NHS, spending several years at St James hospital, Dublin and in more recent years in Older persons services at Peamount Healthcare, Dublin.
She has a particular expertise in Dementia care and has facilitated the National 2- day Dementia programme, enhancing and enabling wellbeing for the person with dementia. Her goal is to lead the team at CareChoice Finglas to provide the highest quality of care to each individual resident, enhancing their quality of life and ensuring a person-centred approach throughout.

Simon Balfe

Director of Nursing at CareChoice Nursing Home Swords, Dublin.

Qualifications: Diploma in Intellectual Disability Nursing & a Higher Diploma in Healthcare Management.

Professional Focus: Simon has 16 years’ experience working as a nurse in the intellectual disability, psychiatric and care of the elderly sectors. Simon gained experience over the years in these sectors and moved up through the management ladder. Simon previously worked in the Midlands as Nominee Provider for 14 centres with adults with intellectual disability. Simon has worked as a DON in nursing homes in south Dublin for the last 6 years.

Andrew Winter

Director of Nursing at The Marlay Nursing Home, Dublin.

Qualifications: RPN,EN(M),DPSN,MSc.Dementia studies, Registered Managers Award (RMA).


Professional Focus: Andrew Joined the Marlay Nursing Home in January 2009. Prior to taking up his position he had many years’ experience in the NHS in all areas of psychiatric nursing including Acute and older persons nursing. Andrew managed a care home in the UK for the rehabilitation of people experiencing mental health issues. His ongoing interest in education resulted in him undertaking and gaining a Diploma of Professional Studies (DPSN). Andrew has achieved the Registered Managers Award in the UK.Furthermore in 2018 he successfully completed a Master of Science Dementia Studies course with the University of Stirling, Scotland.

Andrew continues with his interest in education and is a trainer in Best Practice in Dementia Care for Home Care staff and Senior MAPA instructor for the Marlay Nursing Home.
