Paws for Thought on Pet Therapy
Animal lovers are well aware of the benefits a pet can have. Our CareChoice care homes are also fully attuned to the positive therapeutic effect our furry friends can offer.
Several gentle four-legged friends have officially won the hearts of our residents and staff. The gorgeous dogs across our six care homes are part of our Canine Therapy Programme, which is acknowledged to have therapeutic benefits.
The furry guests are all friendly and calm, with their key focus to interact with residents.
Providing much more than just a game of fetch, the canines bring comfort to residents, visitors and staff and can help improve the mental health of all around them. The dogs undoubtedly enrich the lives of those they connect with.
Research has also shown that interacting with dogs increases the hormone oxytocin in the body, which produces a feeling of love and satisfaction. Patting, stroking, or holding one of our lovable therapy dogs can help with reducing stress and tension, and help with boosting general well-being.
Our ethos at CareChoice is to create a home away from home, and our dog therapy is just one of the many engaging activities we have to offer. We firmly believe that everyone can benefit from the presence of a dog. Of course, many of our residents have their own pet, and we actively encourage regular visits. We just ask that dogs be kept on a lead and any pets visiting should be house-trained and well behaved.
