CareChoice Clonakilty is located in the beautiful town of Clonakilty in West Cork. Our Home was built in 2002 on four acres of land and is a modern purpose-built Nursing Home nestled in the gorgeous West Cork countryside.
Most of our residents are local to the Clonakilty area, which fosters a lovely sense of community within our Home. Clonakilty town has a heavy focus on community spirit and a lot of our residents would know our staff and visitors before they arrive in CareChoice Clonakilty. This creates a lovely atmosphere where everyone feels at home from the moment they step into our Home.
We know all our residents are individuals, they have families, friends, opinions, and many diverse hobbies. We want our residents to enjoy the things that are important to them and cherish the pieces that make them unique. We like to try to go the extra mile to make our residents comfortable, have fun, get involved and generally enjoy the experience of our Home and yet still feel like they can be exactly as they would in their own homes.
Our focus is on the care and wellbeing of each of our residents. We believe in continuous education and training for our staff to ensure that we are always offering the highest standard of care to our residents. In CareChoice Clonakilty we are all family, who respect each other’s values and views and we are constantly learning from one another. This allows us to offer the best care and lifestyle to our residents.

Nicola Haley – Director of Nursing
Qualifications: Registered General Nurse, Manual Handling and People Moving and Handling Instructor, Train the Trainer QQI level 6, Supervisory Management QQI level 6, MAPA Instructor CPI Pro Qual level 4.
Professional Focus: Compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse with 30 years of experience in the NHS and private sector in Ireland. Having started my career in the A/E department in both South Wales and Saudi Arabia, I went onto become a nurse advisor with the Royal College of Nursing. Seeing a lack of clinical support in the community and an ever-increasing bed crisis within the hospital setting, I became involved in the establishment of the Out of Hours Rapid Response Team within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. A move to Ireland in 2009 introduced me to care of the older person, within the CareChoice group. Through my time, I have had a pivotal role in creating the vision and culture of the company, to empower staff to support older people, to continue to exercise independence. I aim to bring forth, highly regarded skills in providing optimum resident care and carrying out all treatment protocols with sensitivity and precision.
