CareChoice Clonakilty book launch
CareChoice Clonakilty staff proudly hosted the launch of the beautiful book, “A Story I have lived so long to make”, a special collection of writings by nursing home residents.
Director of Nursing, Maureen O’Donovan and Activities Co-Ordinator, Catriona Petit were joined by Minister of State for Older People Jim Daly & NHI CEO Tadgh Daly to launch the book celebrating International day of the older persons. The launch also coincides with the commencement of positive aging week.
The writings encompass positive reflections of times present and past, with special childhood memories recalled. The book features writings that encompass reflection, sadness, humour, happiness, faith, friendship and love. Life traits are blended together within the book of writings.
The collection of writings has been brought together by Nursing Homes Ireland. It features writings from over 80 nursing home residents who are living in nursing homes across the country. Nursing Homes Ireland undertook the special initiative to showcase talents of nursing home residents and to provide people with an insight into the very special people who live in our nursing homes. The oldest contributor to the book is 104 years of age and the title emanates from a phrase used within one of the resident’s writings.
