CareChoice Montenotte is a beautifully renovated building, full of character, with 1.5 acres of private, landscaped gardens.
The property was previously a convent and first became a nursing home in 1989. It was purchased in 2000 has retained as much as possible of its old-world charm.
The 4 existing ornamental staircases and original lift cage have been maintained. Exact replicas of the original windows have been constructed, Solid brass feature lighting hangs from high ceilings in the dayrooms,
Golden hues of creams and golds are the backdrop to richly patterned fabrics and beautiful, textured flooring, creating a warm, friendly yet functional space. Each floor has a different colour scheme, which co-ordinates with each of the other levels. Rooms are furnished in a traditional style with warm woods, clean lines, restful tones and of course, state-of-the-art nursing equipment. Our residents will get a lot of enjoyment from this beautiful building; it's a wonderful place to live.
Buildings
Facilities in the Centre are divided over 4 floors, with each floor operating as a self-contained unit. Each level has a spacious dining room, kitchenette, 2 large dayrooms, a treatment room and 2 assisted bathrooms. Because of the view over the harbour, our staff and residents have named the floors:
- Camden - Ground floor
- Carlisle - 1st floor
- Currabinny - 2nd floor
- Roches Point - 3rd floor
Bedrooms
85 spacious bedrooms (57 single and 27 twin) containing:
- Large en-suites with wheelchair accessible showers
- A 21" multichannel TV
- A direct-dial phone
- A nurse-call facility linked directly to the nurses' station on each floor
Kitchen & Kitchenettes
The Centre contains a full professional kitchen. Our resident Chef ensures that a wide selection of dishes are available and will cater for individual preferences. Nursing staff liaise with the chef to ensure that nutrional needs are meet , with special diets provided fior where necessary. The kitchen complies fully with HACCP regulations. There are also small kitchenettes on each floor.
Dining Rooms
The Centre has a fully-functional, modern dining rooms located on each floor proving a pleasant area of social interaction for the residents.
Day Rooms / Sitting Rooms
There are 2 sitting rooms on each floor. One smoking, the other smoke free. Each room is equipment with a TV and comfortable couches and chairs.
Activities Room
The Centre's large activities room is well equipped so that residents have plenty to enjoy. A small library area is also be available as well as a selection of videos.
Hair Salon
A fully equipped hair salon run by an independent, experienced, qualified hair stylist.
Oratory
The Centre has a lovely oratory which is visited regularly by clergy. A CCTV system, linked to the oratory, will allow residents to take part in religious services from the comfort of their own room.
Visitor's Canteen
A canteen is available to guests offering refreshments and snacks.
Gardens
The large, secure, landscaped gardens, which are to the front of the facility, will allow all residents to enjoy the panoramic view of the inner harbour to the east, extending westwards past the park towards Cork city.
Ramps are provided for ease of access for wheelchair-dependent residents.
